Leezel Ramos, Seattle Site Coordinator, DukeEngage
Leezel F. Ramos is an aspiring student affairs professional driven by her experience as a proud product of culturally relevant community based student enrichment programs. Currently, she is a graduate student in the Student Development Administration program at Seattle University serving as the Coordinator for Student Leadership at the Center for Service and Community Engagement during the academic year. Before moving to the Pacific Northwest, this Southern California native coordinated college access programs for the University of California, San Diego and was a former NASPA Undergraduate Fellow for the Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Relations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Ramos earned her B.A. in Speech - Intercultural and Organizational Human Communication Studies at California State University, Fullerton. In her free time, she volunteers within the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American community around civic engagement. I'm so excited to be part of DukeEngage this summer allowing me to bridge my two passions of community and higher education together!
David Hlebain, Seattle Side Coordinator, DukeEngage
Service-learning has been a big part of his own educational experience as well as his professional career in Seattle. David participated in an intensive summer-longservice-learning experience the summer between his junior and senior years of college, and this experience had a huge impact on his career working with and in non-profits and educational related settings. Professionally in Seattle, he has worked at Lifelong AIDS Alliance and the University of Washington’s Carlson Leadership & Public Service Center. David is also an alum of both Lutheran Volunteer Corps and AmeriCorps VISTA. Currently, he is pursuing his Master’s in Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Washington, and he has particular interests in higher education access and retention, LGBTQ inclusion, and engaging in social work practice at the policy level. David grew up on a dairy farm in rural Minnesota and attended St. Olaf College studying Sociology/Anthropology. He has lived in Seattle since 2009 and resides in Seattle’s Central District with his partner. He loves running, eating lots of chocolate, reading, watching the Seahawks, and most recently he has been making a more sustained commitment to urban biking. I am excited to serve as a site coordinator for DukeEngage in Seattle!
