At 8:30 am, Seattle means a walk to work, again along the Burke-Gilman. I’m a huge fan of the trail. On it, I have traveled to my first favorites of Seattle: Gas Works Park, where we celebrated the 4th; Molly Moons, with its monstrous scoops of melted chocolate and maple walnut; and the Seattle Youth Garden Works farm.*
I retrace my steps at 4pm, and as afternoon fades to evening (in time only – the heat and sunlight persist until after 9pm here), so do the other Duke Engage students. We’re a unique bunch, sixteen strong and as accepting a group as I’ve ever met. I am lucky to live and work with them these next six weeks.
